When my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year, one of my replies was “an evening with her and my sister”. We have had the tradition in the past (with the exception of last year when my sister was living in Australia) when the three of us would get together for a nice meal and some good wine. I wanted to start that again.
We headed to Belltown on a perfect, summer evening. We started at Cellars, on 1st & Blanchard. We sat outside, right on 1st, and enjoyed the evening. We shared some appetizers and some dinner over 2 bottles of wine – the first was a Chatter Creek Viognier. And then we moved on to a bottle of Barolo.
After we finished, my brother agreed to meet us downtown. He drove up on his motorcycle, and sat down with the three of us ladies. He must have looked like a stud to our neighboring tables!!
The three of us then walked a few blocks up to The Local Vine, another wine bar. There we all enjoyed a beautiful cheese plate and another bottle of red, a French Pinot Noir (Red Burgundy). It was splendid… as was the entire evening. The word is “precious” – the time spent with my siblings & my mom.
