I have been a member of the Vintage Reserve Club at Chateau Ste Michelle for 2 years now. I love it – worth every penny. As part of the membership, the winery puts on an appreciation concert for the members only.
We weren’t able to make it last summer due to illness, but this year we did it! The artist this year was Dave Mason of Traffic. As members, we get in free, and have a few hours of free wine tasting out on the CSM property which is beautiful!
Phil is not a wine drinker, but we got him set up with some other goodies while the rest of us enjoyed the vino.
When we got there, it was H-O-T! Like maybe 85 degrees. We were all just sweating, hot, and uncomfortable.

We made the best of it, enjoyed the wine, the shade, where we could find it, and the company. We all brought picnics to enjoy on the green while we waited for the concert to start. I made a yummy caprese salad with organic heirloom tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. We had a nice selection of olives, cheeses & crackers. And my mom made a wonderful blueberry pie, in honor of my birthday.
Once the concert started, we settled in and enjoyed the evening. About 30 minutes after the concert started, we were refreshed by some unexpected rain! Seriously!! It was the greatest irony. My folks got up and danced in the rain with many other. Thomas & Michelle took shelter up front near the stage. Phil and I stayed back at our picnic site, played a little Scrabble, listened to music, and ended up packing up about 15 minutes for the concert ended to miss the crowd leaving.
