To stick with tradition, we had the girls get their haircut the day before the 4th. This is one of my favorite pics of the girls together!!! This was at lunch prior to their haircuts…
The DAY of the 4th… we started with the girls marching (wagoning) in the kid’s portion of the parade. James & Denise were kind enough to get some decorations for the wagon. We were STYLIN’ with the red, white & blue!
I had the pleasure of pulling them with the crowd and being the horse of this caravan!
We saw a bunch of different characters and celebratory costumes during the parade.
And those along the sidelines were amusing, too! Everyone was in good spirits, and it felt like we were party of a small town event. I love that about Edmonds!
Here are the girls doing a post-kid-parade-jig. After this, we went and sat with the Daddies and Keith to watch the main part of the parade – fire trucks, marching bands, lots of candy, etc. After the parade, we went back to our house to relax and hang out. We BBQed for dinner – and it was awesome… tri tip, prawns, rice salad, fruit, and dessert. Of course there was wine!
The Walz’s brought a bouncy house for the kids to jump around in our backyard. That was followed by some rounds of Star Wars Wii, led by Keith, the Padawan Jedi.
After dinner, we headed back to Edmonds where we claimed a spot atop of a hill to watch the fireworks from afar. We got there early so we wouldn’t have to compete for a spot. So we had time to kill. The evening got really chilly, compared to the bulk of the day. So we were bundled up in blankets & warm hats. Good thing we each had a kid to keep us warm!
It was a challenge for the kids to wait – they were so excited to see the fireworks. It was what our kids wait ALL DAY for!
Here they are just LONGING for them…looking into the lit sky. We kept telling them that they have to wait until its dark!
James brought the kids glow jewelry, so Chloe dressed up and did a dance in the dark…pre-fireworks entertainment!
