My Mom’s Birthday

My mom celebrated her 59th birthday this year.  She is officially in her 60th year!!  She hates it when we remind her of that!!

We gathered as a family at her house for dinner to celebrate.  We each had a task to make the evening fun.  My brother, Dan, and his fiancé, Claire, made dinner!!  They grilled halibut, potatoes, and asparagus.  SOOOO good! 

 

My Aunt Sheila made a wonderful salad!  Seriously, one of those salads that has lots of goodies in it!!

 

And my job was to make the cake requested by the birthday girl… “a super moist chocolate cake with fruit layers, vanilla frosting, and coconut”.

 

Okay!  Here you go!  However, I forgot candles!  Can you believe that?!!?  So we found these number candles in her drawer, and put them together “5” and “8+1”.  That was as close to 59 as we could get!

And here it is… super moist chocolate, blackberry filling and vanilla/coconut frosting.  It was GOOD, but very rich…just like she requested.  The pleasure was TRULY all mine.
