Our annual White Elephant tradition started about 14 years ago, when we were all single. And through the years, we have slowly gotten married, had children, and become overtaken by life. With that, we have slowly pushed our white elephant meeting date beyond the holiday season. This year… it was in February! For us, really, its all about the social time as families. Therefore the date doesn’t matter. The most important thing is that is does happen at all.
This year’s gathering was at the new home of the Hofmeister’s. Within the last year they have moved to a home in the Laurelhurst neighborhood – just up the street from my in-laws.
It really is a beautiful home, and it takes everything within me not to covet it. We’ve always wanted to live in the neighborhood that Phil grew up in.
We did a belated turkey dinner. James made his homemade bread/rolls, prepared the turkey, and then we had some of the side fixin’s.
The kids had an awesome playroom to entertain them. And I just LOVE the way it is organized. Call me “sick”, call me “obsessed”, call me what you will… but I love organization!! It gets me all hot and bothered!
The date was set and planned before any of us realized that this particular Sunday was Super Bowl Sunday. Oh well! They have a little side room with a sectional and big TV, so anyone who cared could check in and watch the game.
Here are some shots…. above is Denise and Todd, enjoying the game. Then here is Todd’s wife, Shannon, with their littlest peanut! Then there’s me…holding the baby… shocker!
The kids had a blast – which is very important as the adults like to enjoy our time together!
Finally, came the event we all enjoy to torture each other with… the “white elephant” part of the white elephant party!
Here we are, at the end, with our chosen booty!
Chris & Angie
Tricia & Eric
Ari & Kevin
James & Denise
