On my birthday this past July, Denise gifted me a “girls night away” with her to Alderbrook Spa and Resort. She booked us a 2 bedroom cabin on the water at the resort. We chose not to take advantage of the “spa” part. We just wanted to get away and have some girl time. But we did get a pedicure on the way out of town! Had to!!!
We came across a “lemonade stand” on our way to the ferry. Being 2 mommies that had left their kids behind, we had to stop… it as a MUST! We got them to pose for the picture, and we bought 2 cups of lemonade, a Reeses to share, and a box of Girl Scout Thin Mints for Phil. Can’t wait for our kids to do something like this in the coming years!![]()
The ferry had LOTS of cyclists – motorcyclists! I was loving it! There were so many of them that they literally took the front 1/4 of the ferry! Made for a LOUD departure when we pulled off the ferry!!
We arrived at Alderbrook early in the evening. We checked in and got settled right away. This was the view from our cabin!! AMAZING! And the grounds were equally as beautiful.
Here are some shots of our room. It was a 2 bedroom waterfront cabin with a full kitchen and bath.

The goal of the evening was to watch some chick-flicks, and have some uninterrupted conversation. Here was the selection of movies that Denise kindly provided! Beautiful, isn’t it?!?!
Upon getting settled, Denise put together a wonderful cheese platter, along with James’ homemade focaccia bread! And… don’t forget the wine! We started with a Cab Sav & Carmeniere blend. It was reallllllyyyy good! I brought homemade coconut cream pie with a Muscato d’asti for dessert.
We put up our feet by the fire (admire the toes please), and enjoyed our movies!! We watched 3!!
First up, “The Wedding Date”
Next up, “He’s Just Not That Into You” (not pictured here).
And finally, “A Lot Like Love”
I had to peel Denise off the TV while watching Ashton Kutcher a few times, but all well that ended well.
We went to sleep at 2am… BUT were able to sleep in!!! Worked for me!! Our morning view brought us this…
We spent a few hours talking – deep conversation by the fire. Denise made us lox & bagels for breakfast (YUM!!) After that, we watched one last movie “Serendipity” before leaving on our late checkout at 2pm.
What a splendid weekend with my friend…
Thank you, Denise!
You spoiled me rotten!!

I took Kyle to that resort a few years ago with bob and Nancy. It is a great place to just do nothing but relax. Glad you had a good time.
What a good friend you have. It sounds positively dee-vine.
